Akwesasne hosting WMSL 2023 Provincials

Akwesasne will be playing host to the Women’s Major Series Lacrosse 2023 Provincials this coming weekend.
The event will feature all nine WMSL teams battling it out for the 2023 WMSL Championship at the A’nowara’ko:wa Arena on Cornwall Island. The tournament will features teams from Whitby, Arthur, Grand River, London, Mimico, Niagara, Hamilton, Mississauga and host Akwesasne. The teams will be staying in accommodations in Cornwall.
The action kicks off on Friday with round robin play beginning at 2 pm and games running through the day. Opening ceremonies will be held at 6 pm. The round robin action will continue on Saturday with games running from 9 am to 6 pm. The finals will be held Sunday starting at 9 am, with the championship game slated for 3 pm.

Admission is free to all of the games.
The hometown Akwesasne Outlaws will open the tournament against the Whitby Rush on Thursday at 2 pm and they’ll be back in action on Thursday at 7 pm against the Arthur Aces. Akwesasne also plays on Friday at 10 am and 4 pm to conclude their round robin play.
About the WMSL
The Women’s Major Series Lacrosse is a competitive senior box lacrosse league in Ontario.
Each year, WMSL clubs compete in four league days in cities across Southern Ontario, playing two games on each league day for a total of eight regular season games. The regular season winner is awarded the Becky Smith Memorial Trophy.
All teams qualify for the OLA Provincial Championship – a grueling 3-day tournament – where after a round robin and two elimination games, the undisputed Ontario Champion is decided.
