Cornwall, ON – Aultsville Theatre is proud to present the 2026 Aultsville FilmFest, returning January 23–25, 2026 with a weekend-long celebration of independent cinema in collaboration with The TIFF Film Circuit.

The Opening Night Red Carpet Gala will launch the festival on Friday, January 23, featuring a red-carpet arrival experience, reception-style hospitality, and the festival’s opening film screening of Meadowlarks. Thanks to the support of Red-Carpet Sponsor Troy Vaillancourt Real Estate (Century 21) the evening brings together film lovers, community leaders, sponsors, and special guests for a memorable night that celebrates storytelling, creativity, and the arts.

“The Opening Night Red Carpet Gala sets the tone for the entire weekend,” said Brittney Waldroff, General Manager of the Aultsville Theatre. “It’s a chance to celebrate our collaboration with The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Film Circuit and get out enjoy an evening with fellow film buffs. Building on last year’s event we are so excited to welcome our guests this year’s event and are confident that our weekend pass holders are going to appreciate the films the Film Selection Committee has chosen for this year. Following opening night, audiences can enjoy a curated lineup of films throughout the weekend, offering diverse perspectives and compelling stories designed to spark conversation and connection. Following each screening there will be an opportunity for Q&A and discussion led by member of the Aultsville FilmFest Film Selection Committee.

This year’s film selections include:

Meadowlarks (2025) on Friday, January 23, 2026. The Red-Carpet reception begins at 6:30pm followed by the 8:00pm screening of the Canadian drama directed by Tasha Hubbard that follows four siblings separated by the Sixties Scoop who reunite for an emotional reunion in Banff.

We Lend a Hand (2025) on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2pm. This documentary film tells the story of The Ontario Farmerettes who were teenage girls volunteering for farm work during WWII to help with food production. Aultsville Theatre General Manager Brittney Waldroff was fortunate to meet with Director Colin Field and his collaborator Bonnie Sitter for a Q&A that will be screened immediately following the film and will provide more insight into the making of the film.

Urchin (2025) on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 7:30pm. Urchin is a British drama written and directed by Harris Dickinson. It follows homeless man Mike as he navigates the challenges he faces trying to piece his life together.

Peak Everything (2025) on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at 2:00pm. This Canadian romantic comedy features Adam a kennel owner from Montreal who suffers from depression and Ecoanxiety. After purchasing a light therapy box to counter his symptoms, he falls in love with English speaking Tina, the customer service representative who helps him set up the device over the phone and he sets off to find her. Blending Canada’s two official languages (with subtitles) and themes of mental health and family dynamics, this love-against-the-odds adventure takes audiences on an emotional journey.

Throughout the weekend ticket holders can expect:

  • Photo opportunities on the red carpet
  • Movie Theatre Popcorn from The Happy Popcorn Company
  • Doors open one hour prior to showtime, and bar services will be offered throughout the weekend giving guests an opportunity to mingle with fellow film-buffs ahead of each film.
  • Q&A discussions following each film creating a space for community conversations on the various topics covered.
  • 50/50 raffle at each event.

Tickets, passes, and full festival details are available online. Audiences are encouraged to purchase early, as opening night and select screenings are expected to sell quickly.
