Benson Centre hosts Cornwall Winterfest tournament

It’s going to be a busy weekend at the Benson Centre as the Cornwall Minor Hockey Association hosts its annual Cornwall Rep B Winterfest hockey tournament.
The annual event, a staple on the local sports calendar for decades, will feature 40 teams in four different age divisions – U11, U13, U15 and U18. The action kicks off on Friday morning and continues on all three ice pads at the Benson Centre throughout the weekend before wrapping up on Sunday at 5 pm.
Local teams will share the ice with teams from Pembroke, Ottawa, Napanee, Quebec and beyond, providing a nice boost to the local economy to go along with the memories created on the ice.
“Our local teams will get a chance to play teams that they don’t normally play during the season,” said Tournament Director Sophie Filliol.
In addition to enjoying Cornwall’s multi-sports facility, Filliol said there will be a number of vendors set up inside the facility during the tournament.
Admission to the tournament is free.
