Cornwall, ON – The Heritage-Patrimoine Cornwall Committee invites
residents and visitors to celebrate Heritage Week with a special Heritage Fair on Saturday,
February 22, 2025, at the Cornwall Square. Located on the second floor, next to the escalators
this vibrant event will take place from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and promises an engaging day of
history, culture, and community.
In 1985, the Ontario government designated the third week in February as Ontario Heritage
Week. Heritage Week provides a wonderful opportunity for individuals and communities to
reflect on their contributions to Ontario, how heritage is conserved, promoted an
commemorated, and how they might shape the future.
Since then, the Heritage-Patrimoine Cornwall Committee has been hosting a heritage fair to
stimulate awareness of heritage resources and heritage-related issues within our communities,
and to honour the organizations and volunteers who have worked to protect our irreplaceable
heritage resources.
The Heritage Fair will feature engaging opportunities to explore our unique past and cultural
diversity. Attendees can discover exhibits, interactive displays, and hands-on activities from
over 17 local historical and heritage-focused organizations. This collaborative event aims to
connect residents with their shared history and foster a greater appreciation for the city’s rich
cultural tapestry.
“The Heritage Fair is a collaborative effort to connect residents with their shared history an
inspire a deeper appreciation for the city’s diverse cultural tapestry,” said Carole Libbey,
Committee Treasurer and member of the committee for over 18 years. “We’re excited to
welcome the community once again to this dynamic celebration of Cornwall’s past, present,
and future.”
Join them on February 22, 2025, and be part of this inspiring celebration of Cornwall’s heritage!
About the Organizers
The Heritage-Patrimoine Cornwall acts as an advisory body to Council on matters relating to
Cornwall’s natural and cultural heritage resources, including heritage buildings, sites, artifacts,
and neighborhoods. The Committee also helps to ensure that plans for change and progress
