Cornwall Capture the Moment

Every day, thousands of people travel along Highway 401 — deciding where to stop, explore, eat, or spend the night.

Through Cornwall Capture the Moment, the City of Cornwall is inviting the community to help shape one of the City’s most visible tourism images: the photo that will represent Cornwall on a new tourism sign along Highway 401.

This call for photos invites local photographers and residents to share tourism‑focused images that capture Cornwall’s landscapes, experiences, and sense of place. One selected image will be featured on a Highway 401 tourism sign, welcoming visitors and encouraging them to take the next exit and discover what Cornwall has to offer.

Making a Great First Impression

Tourism signs along Highway 401 are designed to help travellers discover places worth stopping for. For Cornwall, this sign is an opportunity to show the City at its best — vibrant, welcoming, and full of things to see and do.

Cornwall Capture the Moment is about highlighting the experiences that make people want to stop, explore, and return — whether that’s time along the river, a walk through downtown, outdoor adventures, or moments that simply feel like Cornwall.

The final sign will include the welcoming message:
“Cornwall – Welcome / Bienvenue / Shé:kon.”

An Invitation to Our Community

Residents experience Cornwall every day, and those moments are exactly what makes the City special. This initiative invites the community to help tell Cornwall’s story through images that reflect real experiences and a true sense of place.

Submissions are open to individuals 18 years of age or older, and participants may submit up to three original photos. Photos must be taken by the person submitting them and should reflect experiences that would encourage someone travelling through the region to stop and explore Cornwall.

Beyond One Photo

While one photo will be selected for the Highway 401 sign, all submitted images will be kept by the City of Cornwall and may be considered for future tourism and marketing initiatives. Together, these photos will help build a collection of images that promotes Cornwall to visitors now and in the future.

As a thank‑you, the photographer whose image is selected for the Highway 401 sign will receive a local gift pack celebrating Cornwall experiences, featuring passes or experiences from local attractions.

How the Photo Will Be Selected

City staff will review all submissions and shortlist a small number of photos. The final image selection will be made by City Council.

Cornwall Capture the Moment is a tourism marketing initiative and not an art competition or a public vote.
