Cornwall Pride Festival returns with a full weekend of events
July 12, 2018The Cornwall Pride Festival returns this weekend with two days of activities and entertainment.
The festivities begin on Saturday, July 14th with a Pride Parade in Downtown Cornwall followed by a Pride Festival in Lamoureux Park and a gala on Saturday evening at The Hangover. The celebrations continue on Sunday with a Pride Walk/Run & Yoga in Lamoureux Park.
“Pride Weekend is a celebration of unity and strength among the LGBTQ+ community. In a world that is often hostile to those who are different, it is important for us to be seen and heard,” said Stephanie Nadeau, President of Diversity Cornwall. “Inclusion makes us stronger and there is strength in numbers. The more allies there are, the faster the number of allies increases. By being out and proud we hope to foster visibility and acceptance for LGBTQ+ people within the SD&G area.”
The weekend event will also generate visibility for Cornwall, with some of the performers, vendors, walk/run participants and festivalgoers visiting for the event.
“We expect to have people coming from Ottawa and Montreal, other areas in eastern Ontario and maybe even the U.S.,” said Ms. Nadeau.
