Cornwall District Minor Baseball is thrilled to announce that Cornwall has been selected as the host city for the 2029 Canadian Little League Championship. This prestigious event will bring together young baseball talent from across the country, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship on the diamond.
The Canadian Little League Championship is a pinnacle event in youth baseball. It serves as the national championship for Little League teams, featuring players aged 10-12 years old. Teams from across Canada compete for the title, with the winner earning the right to represent Canada at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
“CDMB, in collaboration with the City of Cornwall, local sponsors, community partners, and volunteers, are committed to delivering an exceptional experience for players, coaches, families and fans,” said CDMB President Kyle Bergeron.
The tournament will take place at a newly renovated Legion Park which will help deliver a thrilling experience while showcasing our City along our beautiful waterfront.
The tournament dates have yet to be announced but are expected to be towards the end of July to the beginning of August 2029. It’s expected to be a 7-team tournament with regional champions from B.C., Alberta, Prairies, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic taking to the field along with the host team, the Cornwall River Rats.
While the Canadian championship will only take place in 2029, there will be lots of baseball for fans to enjoy before that. CDMB is hosting a pair of tournaments at the end of May which will see 20-plus teams visiting the city. That will be followed by the 2024 Ontario Junior Provincial Championships from July 11-19 at Legion Park.
