Downtown pop-up shops reopen on May 18th
May 6, 2022The City of Cornwall’s pop-up shops are scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, May 18th.
Interested artists, artisans, small business owners, and non-profits can now book a pop-up online.
All three containers are located at the Cornwall Square Parkette, at the corner of Pitt Street and First Street.
The pop-up shops made waves when they opened in 2020 and have hosted over 200 different vendors since then.
“Our pop-up program was developed in 2020 to relieve some of the pandemic restrictions facing small businesses and social groups in our community,” said James Fawthrop, Manager of Facilities and Recreation. “Although most provincial restrictions have been lifted, the overall success of the program has encouraged us to continue offering the program this season.”
“I’m pleased to see this program return for another year,” said Mayor Glen Grant. “Not only have these pop-ups created new opportunities for small businesses and groups in our community, but they have also added vibrancy of the downtown core.”
The turn-key shops are available to rent starting at $20+HST a day. Some restrictions exist: commercial beauty products, food and beverage, resident garage sales, and personal care services are not permitted.
