Cornwall Santa Claus Parade

Cornwall Santa Claus Parade

The spirit of Christmas arrives in Cornwall this weekend with three big events to help usher in the holiday season.

The festive fun will kick into high gear on Saturday with the biggest of Christmas traditions, the annual Cornwall Santa Claus Parade.

Cornwall Santa Claus Parade

This year’s parade will feature over 50 entries and floats in addition to – of course – Santa and his reindeer.

“The parade has served as the kick-off to the holiday season in Cornwall for decades,” said Cornwall Santa Claus Parade marshell Terry Muir. “We’re really excited about the line-up for this year’s parade and we’re hoping for good weather and a big crowd.”

The parade will start at 5 pm at St. Lawrence Secondary School (1450 Second Street East) and continue west along Second Street, wrapping up at Augustus Street. The fun will continue afterwards at the Cornwall Civic Complex with hot chocolate and awards for parade entrants.

Breakfast with Santa

For those searching for some extra family fun, there’s also Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at the Cornwall Civic Complex, hosted by the Optimist Club of Cornwall.

Attendees can enjoy breakfast with Santa and other fun activities in the lead-up to the parade later in the day.

Children are free and adults are asked to made a goodwill donation.

The Very Big Christmas Show

The Christmas fun continues on Sunday with The Very Big Christmas Show on Sunday at the Cornwall Civic Complex, from 10 am to 4 pm.

The show will feature over 50 vendors selling a variety of giftable items along with a gift wrapping station. Children will be able to make their own Christmas ornaments and from 11 am to 2 pm, Santa will be on hand to greet children and take photos. The 3D Thrill Rider will also be on hand to provide visitors with an edge-of-your-seat experience.

“It’s a great way to celebrate the holidays, have some family fun and find some unique gifts at the same time,” said organizer Julia Lucio.

It’s free admission for children and $5 for adults, with part of the proceeds going towards the Optimist Toy Drive. Visitors who purchase tickets in advance will be entered into a variety of draws including two grand prize draws of a new big screen TV and a big bag of goodies.
