Family Fishing Day

Jul 7, 2023

Friday, July 7    10 am – 2pm
Gray’s Creek Conservation Area

The Raisin Region Conservation Authority’s (RRCA) Family Fishing Day returns to Gray’s Creek Conservation Area on Friday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free event lets young anglers and their families try their hand at catching fish while also enjoying a barbecue and a chance to win several prizes through a friendly fishing competition. A fishing licence is not required, as the event takes place during Ontario’s licence-free fishing week.

Over a hundred anglers of all skill levels typically join the event. While all ages are welcome, anglers 16 and under will have a chance to win prizes awarded for several categories, including biggest fish, smallest fish, and most invasive species caught. RRCA staff will be on hand to help measure, weigh, and identify the day’s catches. Participants are strongly encouraged to observe proper fishing and water safety practices. For those without fishing equipment, the RRCA will be lending out rods, hooks, bobbers, and bait, while supplies last.
