On the Rise 2026- Graduating Student Art Exhibition Celebrates Talent of Local Youth

On the Rise – Graduating Student Exhibition at the Cline House Gallery June 6 – 20

For some students, graduating from Grade 12 marks the end of formal schooling; for others, it is the start of a creative journey. The Cline House Gallery is proud to support that journey. This past year, Alexa Giroux and Alex Vachon, both former SDG high school students, had their work exhibited in the gallery. Vachon, a graduate of CCVS and recent graduate of the Queen’s University Fine Arts Program was featured in a 3-person exhibition in May and Giroux, a graduate of La Citadelle and currently studying Fine Arts at Concordia University, took home the Best of Show prize at the annual Juried Exhibition in February.

For the second year in a row, the Cline House Gallery presents ‘On the Rise’, featuring work by this years’ graduating Grade 12 students from across SDG. Students from 12 high schools across four school boards will take part.

New this year, visitors are invited to take part in recognizing emerging artistic talent through ‘People’s Choice Awards’. A total of $1000 in cash prizes will be awarded to 4 student artists, selected by public vote.

These awards have been made possible through spring fundraising efforts of the Friends of Cline House and a generous private donation. Visitors are encouraged to come, experience the exhibition and cast a vote!

All are invited to attend the opening of the exhibition on Saturday June 6th at 1pm to celebrate these rising local artists. The exhibition continues through June 20th. The gallery is open every Wednesday, through Saturday from 10am-4pm.
