Over The Edge With United Way

Cornwall, ON – United Way Centraide SDG is excited to announce the return of a thrilling fundraiser. Go Over The Edge for the third year, Saturday, September 20th at the Seaway Management Corporation Building, located on the corner of Pitt Street and Second Street in Downtown Cornwall.

Over the past two years, more than 80 courageous participants have rappelled down one of Cornwall’s tallest and most iconic buildings, raising nearly $50,000 (net) in support of local issues: housing, homelessness, mental health, food insecurity and poverty.

This event would not be possible without the hard work and generosity from St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, who have once again donated the use of their building and ensure the safety of the participants. The UWC SDG hope to see the amazing commitment to the event continue throughout the next few years.

“We are proud to host this unique fundraiser for the United Way at our landmark building in downtown Cornwall. Through Over The Edge, participants can support their community from new heights while enjoying a one-of-a-kind experience. Let’s make the third Over The Edge event the biggest one yet! Consider signing up with family or friends or gathering a workplace team. Together, we can make a difference in our community.” Said Jim Athanasiou, President and CEO, St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation.

United Way Partners with Over the Edge, a professional event company that has hosted over 1,500 urban rappelling events across
North America with a flawless safety record spanning over 20 years. This ensures that every participant is safe and are being taken care of by experts who have years of experience.

“We are proud to launch our annual campaign with Over The Edge once again. I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who has participated, fundraised, and supported this fundraising event over the past three years. In the face of ongoing economic uncertainty, this day is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a shared purpose. We invite you to join us again this year to help us meet the growing needs in our local communities.” – Juliette Labossière, Executive Director, United Way Centraide SDG.
