Pop up gift store brings Christmas cheer to DowntownOctober 30, 2018
Downtown Cornwall’s retail offering is about to get a healthy dose of holiday cheer.
The Floral Expressions Christmas Gift Store will open its doors Thursday on the first floor of the Cornwall Square, offering shoppers a winter wonderland of Christmas décor, decorations and other festive finds.
Owner Amanda Gaucher has always carried Christmas items in her mainstay location on Pitt Street, but this year she explored opening a second location to expand her offerings. She began discussions with Cornwall Square and it didn’t take long for her idea to become a reality.
“We happened to see this space (in the Square) and it just snowballed from there,” she said.
The store – a pop-up format which will run until early January – features hundreds of beautifully-displayed items that is sure to please any Christmas lover. There’s also a children’s area with a TV and popcorn machine to keep the children entertained while parents explore the store.
“We wanted to make the store into a fun experience and make it visually entertaining,” added Ms. Gaucher, who is celebrating 19 years in business with Floral Expressions.
The store will have its official opening on November 10th with special sales and giveaways.
“We are very excited to welcome this new tenant and use to the mall for the holiday season,” said Karen Burns, Retail Manager at Cornwall Square. “They will be a great addition to the tenant mix and there will be some additional tenant announcements so stay tuned.”
The Christmas pop-up shop will also include some products from Price by Design, a new Cornwall company headed up by Andrew Price. Price by Design is a participant in the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre’s Starter Company PLUS.
The flagship Floral Expressions location on Pitt Street will remain open with its usual offerings of flowers and giftware in addition to the pop-up store both during and after the holiday season.
“We’re excited for people to come in and see our pop-up shop and to us also visit us on Pitt Street,” Ms. Gaucher added.
