Get ready to feast – the Cornwall Kinsmen Farmers’ Market is back for another great season of local food and artisan products.

The popular market will return for its seventh season on Sunday, May 28th and run every Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm until the end of October in the parking lot at St. Lawrence College.

Over 40 vendors are expected to take part in the market this season and organizers are planning a number of special events throughout the season to bring some added excitement to the market.

“We are all about local – local food, local farmers, local craftspeople and artisans,” said Kinsmen Club member and market organizer Neil Benjamin. “The market is a great experience for residents and visitors who want to enjoy products that are grown and made right here in Cornwall and SDG Counties.”

Benjamin said they expect to have more than 40 vendors at the market this year, with some appearing weekly and others every two weeks. That includes a mix of non-growers and growers selling a wide variety of products ranging from produce and meats to jams, prepared foods, coffee, honey, baked goods and much more. Local breweries Rurban Brewing and Humble Beginnings also participate.

“This is the market’s 7th year of operation. We will have over 40 vendors to start up. We are all about local, local food, local farmers, local craft persons and artisans. New to the market since covid is local brewery participation Rurban Brewing and Humble Beginnings. We are hoping to have a variety of events and presentations in the market starting with a soil preparation, planting and seeding event on June 2. There will be a variety of themes and events (hopefully 1-2 a month) as we explore a Christmas in July craft show, a country tea themed market in the fall, our customer appreciation free corn roast, strawberry social, All Things Garlic themed market, October trick or treat in the market, BBQ Smoker demonstration and our yearly Share the Harvest event with the Agape Centre in September.

“We have hundreds who visit the market on a weekly basis. In addition to local residents, we welcome visitors from western Quebec, Ottawa, Gatineau and elsewhere,” Benjamin added.

In addition to the great food and products, the Cornwall Kinsmen Farmers’ Market will also feature some great events this year on market days, starting with a soil preparation, planting and seeding event on June 2nd. That will be followed by a Christmas in July craft show on July 2nd, a customer appreciation corn roast on August 13th, an All Things Garlic market on August 20th, the yearly Share the Harvest event with Agape Centre on September 2, Oktoberfest on October 8th, and Halloween trick or treating on October 29th.
