Senior Games Regional Event Comes to Cornwall

The City of Cornwall is pleased to welcome the Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA 55+) Regional Games to the Benson Centre on Tuesday, August 11, bringing more than 216 participants and their guests to the community for a day of friendly competition, recreation, and connection.
The Ontario Senior Games Association promotes active living for adults aged 55 and older through a wide variety of sports, card games, and recreational activities held across the province. The Regional Games serve as a qualifier and gathering opportunity for participants from Petawawa, Belleville, Trenton, Cornwall, and communities throughout Eastern Ontario.
Visitors can enjoy a full schedule of activities including pickleball, bridge, cribbage, bocce, and prediction walking. Events will take place throughout the Benson Centre and nearby outdoor facilities, creating a lively atmosphere and an opportunity for residents to see the games in action.
“We will be at the Benson Centre on Tuesday, August 11. Why not come out and join us by supporting each of the districts?” says Martha Warcup, District Coordinator for District 8. “There will be approximately 230 participants, and you might find that you would have an interest in joining us.”
The event is expected to attract approximately 230 participants and guests, providing an opportunity to showcase Cornwall’s hospitality, recreational facilities, and vibrant community spirit. Organizers previously hosted the Regional Games in Cornwall two years ago and enjoyed the experience so much that they requested to return.
Registration begins throughout the morning, with competitions running from 8:30 a.m. through the afternoon. Most events are expected to conclude by 4:00 p.m., while pickleball will continue until approximately 5:00 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to stop by, cheer on participants, and learn more about the many opportunities available through the Ontario Senior Games Association. Whether you’re an experienced competitor or simply looking for a new way to stay active and social, the games offer something for everyone.
