Touch-a-Truck Returns to Lamoureux Park on August 19

Cornwall, ON – August 7, 2026

The City of Cornwall’s annual Touch-a-Truck returns to Lamoureux Park on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. This free family event offers residents of all ages a hands-on look at fire trucks, police cruisers, ambulances, snowplows, transit buses, and heavy municipal equipment, alongside the City staff who operate them every day.

“Events like Touch a Truck give us a wonderful opportunity to connect with Cornwall families and showcase the many services the City provides,” said Deputy CAO Matt Stephenson. “We always look forward to welcoming residents and seeing the excitement this event brings to the community.”

The evening will begin with a sensory-friendly hour from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with vehicle horns, sirens, and flashing lights turned off to create a quieter and more welcoming environment for individuals with sensory sensitivities. Vehicle displays and municipal department booths will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., including a Kids’ Passport Challenge across 12 participating City department booths.

“Touch-a-Truck is one of those special events that brings City services to life for families,” says Lori Gibeau, Manager of Recreation, Culture and Tourism. “It gives residents a chance to meet the people behind the vehicles, explore the equipment that supports our community every day, and enjoy a full evening of free activities in Lamoureux Park.”

Families can look forward to a live, interactive performance by Junkyard Symphony from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The award-winning family entertainment group promotes environmental awareness through music, comedy, magic, tricks, and audience participation, using recycled and repurposed everyday objects as instruments.

“Touch a truck is more than seeing big trucks, its about building connections with the community we serve,” said Leighton Woods, Deputy Fire Chief. “Events like this provide families an opportunity to meet firefighters behind the uniform, explore our equipment and learn about fire safety in a fun way.”

To cap off the evening, Arts in the Park will host a free outdoor screening of Bee Movie at dusk. Families are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to enjoy the film under the stars. Admission is completely free for all ages, and residents can follow the City of Cornwall on Facebook and Instagram for live updates as the event approaches.
