Father’s Day Car Show rolls into Lamoureux Park

It’s revving up to be a fun weekend in Lamoureux Park as the Road Warriors Car Club presents its second annual Father’s Day Car Show on Sunday, June 16th from 9am to 3pm in Cornwall’s waterfront park.
Organizers are expecting as many as 400 cars to be on display from various car clubs throughout eastern Ontario, Quebec and northern New York. Vehicles from local fire, police and paramedic services will also be on display along with a heavy wrecker from Cornwall Towing. The car show will be spread out in front of the bandshell and other nearby areas of the park.
In addition to the cool rides on display, there will be live music as well, with Radio Nova playing from 11am to 2pm.
For the Road Warriors Car Club, the show is an opportunity to create some great Father’s Day memories while raising funds for the community at the same time.
“We hope everyone will come out and check out the show,” said Road Warriors Car Club President Christopher Sauve.
The car club gives back to the community in a big way. Last year’s Father’s Day Car Show raised over $10,000 for the Cornwall Community Hospital Chemotherapy Unit. That followed two previous car shows inside the Cornwall Square that raised $2,200 for Hospice Cornwall and $900 for Beyond 21. This year’s event will raise funds for the Optimist Club of Cornwall.
“We are planning on doing this annually to help our local community. We keep our donations local to support local charities,” Sauve added. “Stay tuned to see what’s next!”
Sauve said the success of the club is due in large part to work of the executive committee (Vice-President Nikita Harvey and Directors Kim McPhew, Louise Sauve and Roger Hebert) as well as the support of the numerous car club members and sponsors.
Those attending to view the car show can park for free at the neighbouring Cornwall Civic Complex. Admission is free however donations will be gratefully accepted to benefit the Optimist Club.
Join the show!
Car enthusiasts are welcome to join the show – there’s a $10 registration fee for all show car participants that enter their car into the car show and have it on display. The $10 will be donated to the Optimist Club of Cornwall. With the $10 registration, the first 200 entrants will get a dash plaque and a goodie bag with coupons from various sponsors. Also, registrants will be eligible for the various door prizes that have been donated from various sponsors around the community.
All car show participants are asked to drive around the back of the Cornwall Civic Complex to register and be placed in a designated area of the park.
