Santa Claus Parade returns Saturday, November 19th

Mark your calendars – Santa Claus is coming to town!

Jolly St. Nick will be touching down in Cornwall on Saturday, November 19th for the annual Santa Claus Parade, a 50-year tradition that has served as the unofficial kick off to the holiday season for many.

“We’re looking forward to having a great parade this year to help usher in the holiday season,” said Terry Muir of the Santa Claus Parade committee. “It’s always a fun night and a great celebration of community.”

Parade route

The parade will start at 5 pm and it will begin at St. Lawrence Secondary School (1450 Second Street East) and travel west on Second Street to Augustus Street.

At the end of the parade, Cornwall Transit will be there to shuttle parade participants to the Cornwall Civic Complex where a reception will be held to announce the parade winners.

Breakfast with Santa

On the morning of the parade, the Optimist Club of Cornwall will be hosting a Breakfast with Santa in the salons downstairs at the Cornwall Civic Complex. The breakfast will start at 8 am and run until 10:30 am (or until supplies last). Children eat free while adults are asked to make a donation.

Join the parade!

The theme of this year’s Santa Claus Parade is “Christmas, Past, Present and Future” and local businesses, schools, groups, service clubs and families are encouraged to join in the fun and enter a float (at no charge).

“Santa may be the headliner but it’s all of the other floats that help to make the parade so special,” said Muir. “We’re encouraging all businesses and organizations to enter a float and be a part of the event.”
