Discover fresh, local food at Cornwall Kinsmen Farmers Market
April 30, 2024The Cornwall Kinsmen Farmers Market is set to return for another season offering a familiar mix of fresh food, fabulous artisans and fun times.
The popular market will kick off on Sunday, May 26th and run every Sunday, from 10 am to 2 pm, until Sunday, October 27th. The market is held in the parking lot at St. Lawrence College where there is ample parking, great views of the St. Lawrence River and an easy connection to the bustling Waterfront Trail.
Last year’s market attracted over 20,000 patrons over the course of its 23-week season and organizers expect that support to grow even more in 2024.
“We’re very happy with those numbers,” said Neil Benjamin of the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall, the organizers of the market. “Our vendors sell out the majority of the time.”
Benjamin believes the market’s festive vibe, vendor mix and local focus have all contributed to make it a must-attend for many residents and visitors alike.
“We have 41 vendors but we still have a small market feel,” he said. “Our market just has a great vibe to it. We have a lot of return customers including people from outside of the area who come in a few times every season.”
The market’s good vibes include live music and on-site food options like the popular Thai Khmer. There’s also a full slate of special event days at the market throughout the season, beginning with a Plant Sale Day on opening day. There will also be a Canada Day Family BBQ on June 30th, Christmas in July on July 21st, an All Things Garlic event and free corn roast on August 18th, Pet Day on September 22nd, and a Trick or Treat at the market finale on October 27th.
There’s also a community table available at the market each week where local organization can showcase their services and programs. Interested groups can enquire about availability by emailing info@cornwallkinsmenfarmersmarket.ca.
