Get ready for a scare!

The Ghost Walk for Charity is back for another year of spookiness and smiles in the lead up to Halloween.

The indoor haunted walk returns to the Cornwall Square with opening night set for Thursday, October 13th. It will then run for three consecutive Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, wrapping up on Saturday, October 29th. As in previous years, there will be family-friendly, ‘non-scare’ hours from 5pm to 6pm followed by scare hours from 6pm to 9pm.

Now in its fifth year, the Ghost Walk has grown leaps and bounds, and it’s become a must-see event for horror fans from both near and far.

“We get people and groups from different parts of the province wanting to come through,” said Jenn Turcotte, a member of the Ghost Walk organizing committee. “There’s a girls hockey tournament happening on the last weekend (of the month) and many out-of-town teams are already contacting us to arrange tickets.”

Laid out on the second floor of the former Sears space in the Cornwall Square, the Ghost Walk promises visitors a frightening and fun experience, be it for the early ‘non-scare’ hours or the more haunting scare hours later in the evening.

“Our event is geared to be accessible to everyone so that everybody can enjoy it,” Turcotte added.

And for those who have already taken the walk before, be warned – there are plenty of new scares in store. New elements and props are continually being added to keep the experience fresh and this year is shaping up to be the best yet.

“It’s probably the most well laid out, well thought out walk (that we’ve done so far),” said Turcotte. “We even have some engineered animatronics that are made with hydraulics and are really intricate. It’s going to be incredible.”

Since its inception, the event has raised nearly $100,000 for local charities and community groups. Proceeds from this year’s event will support Diversity Cornwall, Cornwall Canada Day, Comfort Quilts, Centre Salésien des Jeunes, Centre 105 and Habitat for Humanity.
