Great Wolf Lodge considers Cornwall

Great Wolf Lodge Resorts is currently looking at developing one of their signature indoor water parks in Cornwall.
The company has signed an Agreement of Purchase and Sale (APS) to acquire 40 acres in the Cornwall Business Park.
“As we look to bring our signature Great Wolf Lodge family resort experience to more audiences, we believe eastern Ontario is an area of opportunity,” said Steven Jacobsen, Vice President of Development, Great Wolf Resorts. “We believe Cornwall could support a future Great Wolf Lodge resort, and we appreciate the tremendous support from Cornwall Economic Development, Cornwall Tourism and the City of Cornwall as we continue to evaluate and pursue this opportunity.”
Cornwall City Council has approved the sale of the land to the company. The site has frontage on Highway 401 and would be very visible to travellers along Canada’s busiest highway.
“We are very pleased that Great Wolf Resorts is interested in investing in Cornwall,” said Mayor Glen Grant. “Cornwall City Council considers this potential development to offer significant benefits to City, region and Provincial economy. We look forward to continuing to work with Great Wolf Resorts as they undertake their due diligence and we welcome future development applications.”
Tourism has emerged as an important part of Cornwall’s economy.
“We believe the potential impact of a development like Great Wolf Resorts would be tremendous, both for the regional tourism sector and the province as a whole,” said Kevin Lajoie, Tourism Officer, City of Cornwall. “Great Wolf Resorts’ properties typically attract visitors from within a six-hour drive radius which means Cornwall would be welcoming visitors from Ontario, Quebec and the United States. It would be a great addition to our amazing outdoor recreation activities, such as cycling, hiking and boating, that are so popular with tourists.”
Great Wolf representatives will continue to work with the City of Cornwall as it conducts its due diligence over the next several months.
