Celebrate Canada Day in Lamoureux Park
June 19, 2023Celebrate Canada’s birthday with a full day of festivities, fun and fireworks in Lamoureux Park!
Cornwall’s annual Canada Day celebration will be in full swing on Saturday, July 1st with a variety of free activities for everyone to enjoy.
The fun will start with an Optimist Club Pancake Breakfast from 10:30 am to 12 pm (under the big tent in the park) and opening cermonies at the Lion’s Club bandshell at 12 pm.
Enjoy activities for all ages in the Kids Zone from 12 pm to 5 pm along with a full day of free live entertainment from 12 pm to 10 pm at the bandshell. The entertainment culminates with a performance by Canadian rock legends Wide Mouth Mason.
There will also be a variety of food vendors – including local favourites The Happy Popcorn Co. and Sip & Scoop – and the Optimist beer tent will run from 12 pm to 11 pm with a beautiful fireworks display capping off the evening at 10 pm.

Entertainment at the bandshell
Come check your favourite local musicians at the Lion’s Club Bandshell playing all afternoon right before our headliner, Wide Mouth Mason!
Opening ceremonies: 12 pm -12:15 pm
The O’Neils: 12:15 pm -1:15 pm
Grace & Eric Willison: 1:30 pm – 2:15 pm
Parliament of Owls: 2:15 pm – 3 pm
The County Lads: 3:15 pm – 4:15 pm
Big Mule: 4:35 pm – 5:35pm
Escape the Population: 5:55 pm – 6:55 pm
The Chesterfields: 7:15 pm – 8:15 pm
Wide Mouth Mason: 8:45 pm – 10 pm
Fireworks
The Canada Day festivities will wrap up with a beautiful fireworks display at 10 pm over Lamoureux Park.
Kids Zone
The Kids Zone will feature a variety of inflatables from Tribeck Inflatables and it will run from 12 pm to 5 pm in the park.
Mad Science will also be set up in the Kids Zone offering the following activities:
12:30 pm – 1:15 pm Fire and Ice Show
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm Slime Kiosk
2:30 pm – 3:30 pm Slime Kiosk
4 pm – 4:45 pm Fire and Ice Show
Food and Drink vendors
Enjoy food and drink from a variety of vendors in the park, including:
– Sip + Scoop
– The Happy Popcorn Co.
– Fat Les
– Lydia Creamery
– Mini Donuts
– Sweet Harts
– Walking Tacos
– Weenies on Wheels
– East Coast Pizza and Halifax Donairs
Beer Garden
The Optimist Beer Garden will open at 12 pm and close at 11 pm. Must be legal drinking age to enter.
Additional activities
Looking for other activities to keep the family busy on Canada Day? The nearby Cornwall Community Museum in Lamoureux Park will be open from 9 am to 4 pm and admission is free! The Historic SDG Jail at Pitt and Water streets will also be open on Canada Day for guided tours at select hours (click here for more info).
The RCAFA Wing 424 in Lamoureux Park will also be open to the public during Canada Day. The building features an air conditioned banquet hall as well as two patios – a perfect place to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat!
Free Cornwall Transit shuttle
Cornwall Transit will be offering a free shuttle service on Canada Day to make it easier for residents to get to the park for the festivities! The shuttle will run throughout the day and night with a dozen different stops along the way.
